For one family, quality care meant making the commitment to care for their father
at home throughout his illness. They were able to do that with support from visiting
nurses, homecare workers, and hospice palliative care volunteers. As he battled terminal
cancer, his medical needs were met by experts, his family provided round-the-clock
comfort and family friends dropped in regularly. The family, though stretched to the
limit, could manage because of the support and respite from the local hospice palliative
care team.
