For one family, quality care meant making the commitment to care for their father at home throughout his illness. They were able to do that with support from visiting nurses, homecare workers, and hospice palliative care volunteers. As he battled terminal cancer, his medical needs were met by experts, his family provided round-the-clock comfort and family friends dropped in regularly. The family, though stretched to the limit, could manage because of the support and respite from the local hospice palliative care team.
